Backend Engineer (PHP/Laravel)

Cargofy is building the AI-native operating system for global freight. Cargofy deploys autonomous AI agents that automate procurement, dispatching, negotiations, operations, tracking, and workflows for carriers, shippers, and 3PLs across the US, Europe, and Asia. Our platform processes 100,000+ loads per day and hundreds of thousands of real-time events — replacing manual logistics with fully autonomous AI.

We need a Backend Engineer (PHP/Laravel) to build and scale the core systems powering our AI logistics platform — from load matching engines to real-time event pipelines processing hundreds of thousands of transactions daily.

Every AI agent in our platform depends on a fast, reliable backend. You will build the infrastructure that lets our AI find loads, negotiate rates, talk to drivers, run tenders, and manage shipments — all autonomously. When you ship code, it reaches thousands of logistics companies within days.

What You Will Do

• Design and build backend services for the Cargofy platform — APIs, event-driven pipelines, job queues, and real-time processing
• Build integrations with third-party systems: ERPs (including Odoo), TMS platforms, ELD providers, load boards, and messaging services
• Work directly with AI modules — LLM orchestration, Voice AI, scoring engines, and autonomous decision-making pipelines
• Optimize high-load processes: queues (Redis + Horizon), scheduling, notifications, and webhook handling at scale
• Design modular, maintainable architectures (Laravel modules / multi-service patterns)
• Write tests for critical business logic and participate in code reviews

Tech Stack

• PHP 8.x — strong OOP, PSR standards, clean code
• Laravel — deep understanding of framework internals, service container, Eloquent, events
• MySQL 8 — optimized queries, indexing strategies, large-scale data
• Redis, Horizon — queues, caching, real-time event processing
• Event-driven architecture, WebSockets, REST API design
• PHPUnit, CI/CD pipelines, Docker

• 3+ years of production PHP/Laravel experience
